Below are the steps you should take when you experience water damage.

1. Turn off the main source of the water leak. You may have to turn off the main valve to the home. Inform all occupants of the home how to do this and where the off valve is. Mark this valve with a brightly colored tag.

2. Shut off all electric to the effected area, this may have to been done at the electric panel to the home. Remember, electric and water can kill.

3. Remove furniture or raise from the wet area to prevent damage.
